In Canada, saying we’re created male and female (which is what God’s Word clearly states) is now a hate crime punishable by a $750,000 fine. That was the ruling handed down to Barry Neufeld, a former British Columbia school trustee “who had publicly campaigned against the idea that gender was a ‘social construct.’” He believes—and publicly stated—that the whole transgender issue is an ideology and that teaching it to kids can prime them for abuse. And apparently, that’s a crime!

Neufeld’s case has been in the courts for nine years, and the BC Human Rights Tribunal recently handed down its decision, calling Neufeld’s public comments based on his beliefs “dehumanizing,” “delegitimizing,” and “extremely serious and damaging.” Why? Because: “If a person elects not to ‘believe’ that gender identity is separate from sex assigned at birth, then they do not ‘believe’ in transpeople. This is a form of existential denial.”

Yes, this Canadian human “rights” tribunal really believes that protecting children from irreversible hormones and surgeries amounts to the “erasure” of transgender people. But it’s the tribunal that is standing against observational science and God’s Word. It’s simply biological reality that humans are either male or female. To say otherwise isn’t biology—it’s ideology.

And this isn’t the only example of Canadians being persecuted in this way. The article sharing the tribunal’s ruling gave other recent examples, including:

  • In 2025, “a private individual was fined $10,000 by the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal for expressing concerns to a friend about their upcoming double-mastectomy. As the surgery was intended to affirm the friend’s trans identity, the tribunal ruled the comments discriminatory.”
  • This month, “the Quebec Human Rights Tribunal ordered a Montreal salon named Station10 to pay $500 to a non-binary activist who had objected to its menu offering men’s and women’s haircuts.”
  • In January, “the B.C. Human Rights Tribunal sided with a complainant described as a non-binary individual who presents ‘as a trans masculine butch woman.’ The complainant alleged that while working a senior position at the BC Ferry & Marine Workers’ Union, a colleague used ‘she/her’ pronouns instead of ‘they/them’ pronouns.” The so-called “non-binary” individual received an $8,000 settlement.

We need to pray for Canada! LGBTQ+ ideology has completely taken over the courts, and free speech and freedom of religion are increasingly being infringed upon.

Many people believe “woke is dead” in the United States, but that’s not really true—it’s just simmering on the back burner, waiting until the political winds change, and then it will be unleashed more aggressively than ever. What’s happening in countries around the world, like in Canada, reminds us that we’re still in the midst of a raging spiritual battle and that we must be equipped to speak boldly for truth and protect children—no matter the consequences.
