Religious ‘nones’ reach record high, only 47% of Americans say religion is ‘very important’


Americans with no formal religious identity, popularly known as the “nones,” reached a record share of the population in 2025, according to new Gallup data, which shows fewer than 50% of adults also report that religion is “very important” in their lives.
