Never-Ending Political Violence: What Is Happening In America?

Just four weeks after the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was abruptly ended by would-be political assassin Cole Allen opening fire near the event’s entrance, another attempted shooting at the location of the President prompted a lockdown on Saturday.

According to initial reports, a 21-year-old Maryland man by the name of Nasire Best opened fire toward the White House. Secret Service agents quickly took action, firing at the shooter, who was pronounced dead shortly after. According to Fox News, this was the gunman’s third incident involving Secret Service members, with two altercations recorded in 2025 where the man made threats and “entered a restricted area.”

The attempted shootings come at a time when high-profile and political violence is becoming more commonplace in the United States—and more routinely justified and praised by radical Democrat members of society, particularly those among the younger generation.

Erick Stakelbeck, host of the Watchman Newscast and Stakelbeck Tonight, called it a “dangerous moment for our country.”

“The assassination culture we’re seeing in America right now is not a problem coming from ‘both sides of the aisle.’ Yet this is the claim the mainstream media runs with every time there is an attempt on a conservative’s life, and there have been many in recent years,“ he underscored. “Large segments among the media, Democrat politicians, and left-wing influencers all agree that Donald Trump is a ‘fascist’ and an ‘imminent threat to our nation who must be stopped.’ They’ve said so publicly, repeatedly, then express shock when one of their followers takes up arms and tries to kill a man they’ve dubbed a ‘modern-day Hitler.’”

“The left today is a very dark place. Anti-God, anti-family, anti-capitalism, anti-law enforcement, anti-Israel, pro-Islam, pro-transgenderism, and pro-violence,” Stakelbeck continued, adding that, despite the increase in assassination attempts, “statements stoking violence remain par for the course for today’s Democrat leaders.”

In addition to the rhetoric by Democrat politicians, social media has also played a critical role in fomenting support for violence.

After over a year of leftist influencers’ branding Luigi Mangione, the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, as a hero, groups of his supporters gathered at his trial this week in New York City. The crowd celebrated the killer, declaring that the slain CEO’s children were “better off” with him dead. A Broadway show, “Luigi: The Musical,” debuted one week prior to the commencement of the trial.

Similar sentiment has been shown to Tyler Robinson, the alleged shooter who took the life of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk last September.

When a political party has lost its moral foundation—rejecting God’s standards for truth and morality—the devil, who is described as a “murderer from the beginning,” fills the void. Emotions, sinful desires, and personal interests manufacture a twisted definition of right and wrong, where acts of evil and violence are easily justified.

“Acts of extreme violence and threats have become far too common, and it’s deeply concerning for our nation,” Pastor Greg Laurie recently highlighted. “What is going on in America? The Bible has an answer.

“The Apostle Paul wrote these words nearly 2,000 years ago that ‘in the last days perilous times will come’ (2 Timothy 3:1),” the pastor detailed. That word ‘perilous’ comes from the Greek word ‘chalepos,’ used only twice in the New Testament. Once here, and once in Matthew 8:28, to describe demon-possessed men so fierce and violent that no one could pass that way. ‘Chalepos’ describes times that are fierce, savage, violent, and dangerous. Times that are hard to navigate and impossible to control in our own strength.”

“These are unsettling days,” he stressed. “But Scripture reminds us that this shouldn’t be surprising; we’re going to see these sorts of things in the days in which we’re living.”

“This is not the time to panic; this is the time to pray,” Laurie urged. “In fact, the Church has two secret weapons we must never lose sight of. One is prayer, and the other is the proclamation of the gospel. This should not cause us to shrink back, but to step forward with more boldness than ever.  So let’s pray for our president, the members of his cabinet, and our elected leaders. Also, pray for our pastors and churches. We’re all under attack right now.”
