Elementary School Paints Over Bible Verse After Atheist Group Demands Its Removal

admin December 23, 2025

There is atheist outrage in Lebanon, Virginia.

There’s a painting on a wall inside Honaker Elementary School. It features a giant orange paw print along with the words: “Philippians 4:13.”

That’s the Bible verse that says we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. And that biblical truth triggered a Wisconsin-based atheist hate group.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation is a gang of atheists, agnostics and freethinkers who get triggered by the name of Jesus.

“To protect students’ First Amendment rights, the district must remove this bible verse from Honaker Elementary School, as well as any other religious displays it becomes aware of in its schools,” FFRF’s Kyle J. Steinberg wrote to the district.

They say the message violates the law and noted that religion in a divisive force in public school. The vulgar atheists then demanded the school district remove the Bible verse from the wall.

Instead of telling the atheists to go to church, the school superintendent complied with their demands. She wrote a letter telling the atheists that the Bible verse had been removed. They literally painted over the verse.

“The scripture has been removed that was located beside the tiger paw. I have attached a picture to show the change,” the superintendent wrote in an email.

“When public property is used to promote religion, FFRF is happy to see the changes a fresh coat of paint can bring,” FFRF co-president Annie Laurie Gaylor says. “Our public schools are for education, not indoctrination, and religion in schools always builds walls between children. There should be no pressure on small children to conform to majority religious beliefs.”

It’s a shame that children in Lebanon, Virginia have to check their Christian faith at the schoolhouse door. But atheists won’t be satisfied until they completely eliminate our faith from the public marketplace.
