Trans Identities in Young People Have Halved in Just Two Years — What’s Going On?

admin October 26, 2025

Well, it’s nice to get to report on good news every once in a while!

According to an analysis of a survey of 60,000 American students, “since 2023 both trans and queer identification have dropped sharply within Generation Z.”

Consider that in 2022 and 2023, 6.8% of young adults “identified as a gender other than male or female.” A year later, that number had dropped to 5.2%. Well, this new study has found another drop—in 2025, “just 3.6% of respondents identified as a gender other than male or female. . . . In other words, the share of trans-identified students has effectively halved in just two years.” (Note: The author states in his official report that “the term transgender as used here includes non-binary as well as binary transgender identity, in line with the definition used by trans movement organizations. It also assumes that non-binary identity is correlated with binary trans identity. . . .”)

The author of the analysis noted in an X post that the good news continues: “Not only this, but freshmen in 2024–25 were less trans and queer than seniors whereas it was the reverse when BTQ+ identity was surging in 2022–23.” This likely means numbers will be even lower next year.

The data doesn’t tell us why these identifications are dropping, but considering how harmful trans ideology is (rejecting God’s design always has consequences!), it’s encouraging to see such identities losing their popularity. However, there’s no doubt trans ideology was enthusiastically promoted by the previous administration, and now that this has changed dramatically, we see a change in younger generations identifying as transgender. This tells us something about what the real issue is—and it’s certainly a spiritual one.

This doesn’t mean the fight for biblical truth when it comes to male and female is over. There are still many extremely confused young people and an even larger number of individuals who affirm and celebrate this confusion. They need the truth from God’s Word that “male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27).
